Garage Doors Enhance Value of Home
These days Tim Carter is looking at his home in a different way. With plans to sell his house and move to Maine in the near future, he’s carefully taking on projects that will add to the value of his New Hampshire home.
As the founder of Ask the Builder , Tim stays up-to-date on industry information. So, when he learned from the 2018 Cost Versus Value Study that garage door replacements have the number one return on investment for a homeowner project at 98.3%, he contacted Haas Door. After working with the HaasCreate tool, Tim and his wife Kathy selected our 2000 Series insulated steel (Model 2070) garage door. They chose a bi-directional mahogany woodgrain with ranch panels to enhance the curb appeal of their home. Plus, he added decorative glass Emerald style windows with Aqua glass to complement his entry door.
“I’m convinced my new garage doors have added lots of value to my home,” says Tim. “When anyone comes to my home now the new garage doors are the primary thing they see when approaching the house.
“It’s important to create a very positive first impression and my new Haas Door products do just that. The rich wood look and decorative glass are standout winners.”
Insulated Interior
It’s not just the exterior that impresses Tim about his new garage doors — it’s also what’s inside that has him excited.
“The dense foam insulation in my new two-inch thick heavy gauge galvanized steel garage doors is going to keep this garage above freezing,” says Tim. “That’s important in the frigid New Hampshire winters that are both long and cold.
“My office is directly above the garage doors in the attic of the garage. The insulation in these garage doors are already helping to lower the heating bills and keep me more comfortable.”
The addition of new decorative glass in the garage doors have also brought Tim excitement. “My old garage doors were solid, making the interior a dungeon when the doors were closed,” says Tim. “The new decorative glass windows flood the area with much-welcomed light, while the aqua glass still provides some privacy. I don’t have to turn on the lights now when I go into the garage in daylight!”
Fast Installation
Accuracy and speed of installation impressed Tim a great deal on the garage door replacement project. In one day his old garage doors were taken out, the new garage door sections were installed and ready to go. (See Tim’s video of the process right HERE!

“I’ve worked with countless sub-contractors in the past,” says Tim. “Yet this young man from Alpha Overhead Door was very impressive. He was efficient and got the job done much faster than I thought he would.
“A sign of a really remarkable contractor is that he also scoured my driveway for stray parts when the job was complete. He actually left the job site much cleaner than when he arrived!”
Easy Online Tool
Now that Tim and Kathy have the garage door of their dreams, it will be hard to give it up.
“We’re enjoying the look and comfort of these new Haas Door garage doors so much that they’re on the short list of products for when we build our new home in Maine,” says Tim. “We found it really easy and fun to use the HaasCreate online tool to see how our replacement door would look on this current home.
“When we’re ready to build we’ll go back to that same digital tool to select our next garage door. We know it’s important to create a very positive first impression for curb appeal with a home. My new Haas Door garage doors do just that, and we’ll try to mimic that in our next home!”
