The November/December of This Old House magazine is now on the newsstand — and it features Haas Door products in a special story on the construction of the THIS OLD HOUSE® 2018 IDEA HOUSE.

The garage for this home gets special attention since it’s detached and connected to the house with a breezeway. Located in Narragansett, R.I., the Idea House features two American Tradition Series™ steel doors in Cool Black with black coordinated hardware.


“This was the first time my company has used Haas Door garage doors on a project,” says Jeff Sweenor, president and CEO of Sweenor Builders . “I’m impressed with the look of the garage doors and the quality of the product. I would definitely consider using them on more of my projects in the future.”

Door and Glass Options

Union Studio Community Architecture & Design designed the 2,700-square-foot cottage with the connected garage to feature the American Tradition Series in a black texture with overlays, accented with Dark Gray/Dark Gray specialty glass in the windows. The architectural team specifically requested the dark gray glass option to complete the look of the all-black garage doors. Located less than a mile from the town beach, future owners of the house will benefit from the durability and energy efficiency of the steel garage doors on the home.

The complete line of American Tradition Series doors includes color options of Trinar® White, Trinar® Brown, Trinar® Beige, Cool Black, Bronze, Hunter Green, Brown, Gray, Polar White, Almond, Sahara Tan, Sandstone, Charcoal, Mahogany, Ash, American Walnut and English Oak. Each color can be used as a base and/or overlay color to give added character to the elegant garage doors.

Haas Door offers insulated glass combinations across all aluminum and steel product lines. Specialty combinations include Light Gray/Clear, Dark Gray/Clear, Bronze/Clear, Dark Gray/Dark Gray, Light Gray/Frost, Dark Gray/Frost and Bronze/Frost. Decorative wrought iron hardware can also be added to enhance the distinctive beauty of the doors.
