Unwrapping a Present
Christmas was extremely special for U.S. Marine Corp. Sergeant Landon Beck and his family last year. The retired serviceman was presented with a new home on December 17, 2020, from the Home at Last Project.
Constructed by
Winter Park Construction (WPC) in Florida, the new 3,784-square-foot home features enough space for Beck’s six children and his wife, Jessica. The house includes five bedrooms and four bathrooms, plus a three-car garage, to accommodate the large family.
The installation of two Haas Door 2400 Series energy-efficient garage doors in the new home was handled by the experts at Florida Door Solutions.
The Steel 2400 Series was chosen to handle the Florida weather and potential storms. The two-inch thick steel doors are made of 24-gauge galvanized steel with tongue-and-groove construction. The doors can handle Florida wind loads of +22.9/-25.5 PSF.
“The recessed short panel style of these garage doors works well with the home’s exterior design,” says Nikki Cook with Florida Door Solutions. “We were honored to collaborate with the Home at Last Project to play a role in creating this beautiful home for the Beck family.”
Sgt. Beck saw active duty in Afghanistan, where he received multiple injuries in the line of fire. He was awarded two Purple Heart medals and retired from the Marines in 2012. Due to his injuries, he has been diagnosed with Traumatic Brain Injury and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, along with chronic back and leg pains. The Beck’s home is the ninth project completed by the non-profit Home at Last Project for wounded veterans returning from service with severe disabilities.
