Let There Be Light!

Haas Door • September 4, 2018

If you currently have a solid garage door, you know how dark it can be in your garage. And, more than likely, the outside of your garage door seems like just a “solid mass” on your home.

By selecting a new garage door with attractive windows, your garage door can help increase the curb appeal of your home plus add some much-needed light to the interior of the garage.

Worried about privacy? Don’t be. With a variety of glass options, Haas Door offers a range of window choices from clear to obscure glass.

Pick Your Glass
Let’s say you’re located in Minnesota and like to work in your garage on small projects throughout the year. During cold winter months you need to keep the garage door closed, but you’d like some natural light. That’s where insulated Clear/Clear or Aqua/Clear glass works best.

Now, if you’re that Minnesota homeowner and you’ve got some valuable tools or other items in your garage, then the more obscure Rain/Frosted insulated glass may work best for you. This glass prevents nosy neighbors and potential thieves from seeing inside your garage but still allows some light into your work space.

Depending on the level of light (and design style) you prefer, Haas Door can help you achieve the look and privacy level you desire. We offer 16 standard insulated glass options in most of our product lines — including variations on Rain, Aqua, Bronze, Frosted and Clear glasses.

Pick Your Style
After deciding which glass option you prefer, it’s time to decide on a window style. Many people select the look of different “frames” within our Carriage House, Ranch and Standard Series. We offer more than 30 collections of window options to choose from.

You can select Prairie or arch style grids in your garage door windows to match the grids on the window in your home or Colonial style grids to complement your home’s overall design. You can even choose simple plain windows that maximize the amount of window space on your garage door. Whatever style works best for you, we can make it happen in your garage door.

Best of Both Worlds
Looking for something a bit more unique for your garage doors? Then check out our decorative glass window options.

We offer Emerald, Modern Craft and Prairieview window styles in our Carriage House, Ranch and Standard sizes with four different glass options. Depending on the level of privacy you desire, the windows can be ordered in Clear, Rain, Aqua and Frosted glass and may be combined to create a unique look. Rain over Frosted provides the greatest level of privacy within the collection and can be used with all three designs. The Rain glass obscures the view while the Frosted provides a level of opacity.

These economical window designs are targeted to help increase the curb appeal of your home while complementing your whole-home window package. Plus they add value to your home exterior and provide just the right amount of privacy you desire.

What's New at Haas Door?

By Haas Door June 15, 2026
When Mademan Design’s Patrick Knobloch was brought on to transform a former St. Louis auto dealership into Makers Yard — a multi-tenant restaurant hub anchoring the city’s new Delmar Maker District — the building’s industrial bones provided an excellent starting point. The challenge, however, was creating a meaningful indoor-outdoor connection across a series of large storefront openings while honoring what the building once was. Haas Door’s aluminum and glass full view sectional doors ended up playing a bigger role in solving that problem than anyone might have expected — right down to surviving an EF3 tornado with zero damage. We asked Knobloch to walk us through the project, the product decisions and what he’d tell other architects working on similar commercial applications.

Every May, Home Improvement Month gives homeowners a nudge to step back and think about the projects that would make the biggest difference — the upgrades that have been sitting on the list a little too long. If you’re not sure where to start this spring, we’d make the case for your garage door. It’s the largest moving part of your home, one of the most visible features of your exterior, and — depending on what door you have — either a significant vulnerability or a serious asset. Here’s why upgrading to a new Haas Door this spring is one of the smartest home improvement decisions you can make.

Energy efficiency is often discussed in terms of windows, insulation and HVAC systems. But one of the largest and most frequently used openings in a home is often overlooked: the garage door. Because the garage connects directly to the living space in many homes, the performance of the garage door affects more than just curb appeal. It plays a meaningful role in comfort, efficiency and long-term home performance. That’s why the way a garage door is built matters.
