Haas Door Announces Top Three Garage Door Trends for Curb Appeal Month

Haas Door • August 9, 2022

In honor of Curb Appeal Month in August, Haas Door  has announced the top three market trends it has seen throughout 2022.

“At Haas Door, we’re always working to provide the most impactful options to our customers,” said Haas Door President Jeffrey Nofziger. “This means manufacturing a wide variety of garage doors that cater to both traditional and modern home design needs with doors that incorporate relevant trends while maintaining the quality and reliability we’re known for.”

In analyzing its dealer and customer requests, Haas Door has identified three leading trends: Dark colors, modern panels designs and the addition of windows.

Dark Colors

According to experts at Haas Door, requests for garage doors in darker tones are increasing. In particular, black doors are trending, creating a bold accent rather than the traditional garage door appearance that blends with the entirety of a home. The black door matches the trends of black window frames and black home accents, such as lighting fixtures.

Additionally, Haas Door has found that neutrals are also moving darker in tone. Earlier this year, the company launched its
“Graywood” wood grain, a deep gray color that provides depth while maintaining a neutral and balanced exterior. Graywood is a perfect option for modernizing a traditional color.

Modern Panels

In line with the overall design industry’s shift toward simplicity, Haas Door has seen an uptick in requests for garage doors with clean lines. Modern section designs provide a sleek look that allows the door to seamlessly compliment the home’s exterior. Options for a clean section look include flush, v-grooved that resembles planked doors, recessed or recessed ribbed that add dimension, as opposed to sculptural panels that were previously popular. Many of Haas Door’s product lines include these options to combine the streamlined style with the thermal performance needed.

Additional Windows

An emphasis on natural light has been a trend in interior design for years, and according to Haas Door, it’s recently increased in the garage door industry in the form of more window options, and modern window placements, such as large windows down the side of the garage door. Window placement options and glass options such as frosted glass, allow light into the garage, while providing another opportunity to enhance the door’s aesthetics and match the overall style of the home. The American Tradition™ carriage-style doors offer a number of window options, including paned, and colored glass options such as dark gray.

What's New at Haas Door?

By Haas Door June 15, 2026
When Mademan Design’s Patrick Knobloch was brought on to transform a former St. Louis auto dealership into Makers Yard — a multi-tenant restaurant hub anchoring the city’s new Delmar Maker District — the building’s industrial bones provided an excellent starting point. The challenge, however, was creating a meaningful indoor-outdoor connection across a series of large storefront openings while honoring what the building once was. Haas Door’s aluminum and glass full view sectional doors ended up playing a bigger role in solving that problem than anyone might have expected — right down to surviving an EF3 tornado with zero damage. We asked Knobloch to walk us through the project, the product decisions and what he’d tell other architects working on similar commercial applications.

Every May, Home Improvement Month gives homeowners a nudge to step back and think about the projects that would make the biggest difference — the upgrades that have been sitting on the list a little too long. If you’re not sure where to start this spring, we’d make the case for your garage door. It’s the largest moving part of your home, one of the most visible features of your exterior, and — depending on what door you have — either a significant vulnerability or a serious asset. Here’s why upgrading to a new Haas Door this spring is one of the smartest home improvement decisions you can make.

Energy efficiency is often discussed in terms of windows, insulation and HVAC systems. But one of the largest and most frequently used openings in a home is often overlooked: the garage door. Because the garage connects directly to the living space in many homes, the performance of the garage door affects more than just curb appeal. It plays a meaningful role in comfort, efficiency and long-term home performance. That’s why the way a garage door is built matters.
