All-Glass Garage Door Brightens Up Laurentia Winery

Life recently got a bit brighter at Laurentia Winery in Madison, Ohio. 


To bring more daylight into the winery’s cellar level, the owners removed a solid oak custom wood door. They had it replaced with an all-glass Haas garage door with custom powder-coated Golden Oak rails and stiles.


“The cellar level is underground except for the south wall,” says Candace DiGirolamo, vineyard and operations manager at Laurentia Vineyard and Winery. “There was very little natural light coming into that space. The most logical thought was to replace the wood door with glass.”


Matching the Setting

To assist in the transformation, the team at Diamond Doors LLC was selected. 


“Haas Door has been one of our ‘go to’ products for the past dozen years,” says Don Cherkes, owner/operator of Diamond Door LLC. “I recommended the Haas garage door for this project because of the powder coat option that I felt would be appealing for the winery setting.”


Ordered from United Garage Door Company, the CA320 door features insulated, tempered clear glass. The rust- and corrosion-resistant aluminum garage door provides the largest door size maximums, plus impact glazing options. 


Adding Light

“The Haas Door maintains the image of the space we have created in the winery cellar,” says DiGirolamo. “Plus, it allows for the functionality we need to access that level of the winery with large pallets of wine cases. We have to stock product in the cellar. We would not be able to do this without the garage door opening.


“Most importantly, our winery guests now get to enjoy the view out onto the surrounding landscaping through the all-glass garage door. Overall, we’re very pleased with the amount of light that now comes into the winery cellar. It’s exponentially brighter with the all-glass door from Haas Door.”
