House Begs for All Glass Garage Door

Haas Door • January 4, 2021

Dennis and India Irving’s house was simply made for a Residential Aluminum (RA) 360 garage door. The all-glass exterior on their Michigan home fairly begged them to replace the old solid panel garage door.

After moving into the 33-year old home in June of 2019, the Irvings took stock of changes needed for their new residence. The existing garage door was old, and starting to have complications. More importantly, it stood out — and not in a good way — on the home’s exterior.

Enhancing Natural Light

Growing up, India Irving remembers her mother opening the windows of her childhood home to let in fresh air and sunshine. This memory has translated to the homeowner craving natural light throughout her home.

“I saw an all-glass garage door years ago and loved the design,” says India Irving. “When we decided to replace the old garage door,
Mammoth Door recommended the all-glass garage door from Haas Door. I absolutely adore it. The RA360 garage door looks like it was made special just for our home!”

Customizable Options

Boasting ½-inch insulated tempered clear glass, the RA360 garage door made for the Irving residence is 16-feet long by 7-feet tall. Painted white stiles on the door match up with rails on windows throughout the home for a clean, refined straight line look.

Made in Ohio, the RA360 doors capitalize on a national trend for all-glass garage doors. The modern, contemporary-style door is made of a high-end commercial grade aluminum that is rust- and corrosion-free.

To surround the glass, Haas Door offers 13 woodgrain color options, 10 painted finish options, and three anodized finish options. In addition, the doors may be ordered with custom-matched paint or powder coating finishes. A multitude of glass options are available, from clear to frosted.

Added Curb Appeal

“This is quite a change from the dark garage interior we had when moving into this house,” says Irving. “We had a mirror tint added to the glass in the RA360 garage door windows to match the rest of our home. It’s really cool that we can see out, but people can’t see directly in.

“I’ve received so many compliments on the garage door from neighbors and friends. Strangers have even stopped while driving by. Just by switching out the garage door we enhanced the curb appeal on our home tenfold!”

Energy efficiency is often discussed in terms of windows, insulation and HVAC systems. But one of the largest and most frequently used openings in a home is often overlooked: the garage door. Because the garage connects directly to the living space in many homes, the performance of the garage door affects more than just curb appeal. It plays a meaningful role in comfort, efficiency and long-term home performance. That’s why the way a garage door is built matters.

As hurricane season ramps up, homeowners across the Gulf Coast, Atlantic states and beyond are checking emergency kits, trimming trees and securing loose outdoor items. But one of the most important — and most overlooked — steps in hurricane prep starts with your garage. At Haas Door, we know that your garage door isn’t just about curb appeal. It’s a vital barrier that protects your home from wind, water and debris. And in high-wind events like hurricanes, it can be a first line of defense in protecting your home. Why Your Garage Door Matters in a Storm A compromised garage door can cause catastrophic damage. According to FEMA, garage door failure is one of the leading causes of structural damage during hurricanes. Once the door is breached, wind pressure can build inside your home, lifting the roof and blowing out walls.
