Girdwood Brewing Company Connects Guests with Alaska Outdoors
As life slowly gets back to normal across America, the same is happening in Alaska. Closed due to COVID-19 for several months, Girdwood Brewing Company is now opening its doors again. And this time, they’re also opening a new Haas Door garage door as part of their facility expansion.
A new bronze anodized Commercial Aluminum 320 full view garage door has replaced an older solid garage door. This time the owners opted for glass. The idea is to open the indoor space to the outdoor patio when the weather permits.
“The Haas Door CA320 adds a unique industrial feel that fits in with the brewery brand and our manufacturing theme,” says Rory Marenco, co-founder and brew engineer at Girdwood Brewing Company. “This way we can bring the outdoors inside when the weather is good.
“There are several other breweries across the nation employing garage doors for similar uses. We thought it was quite clever when we visited them and wanted to add this in at Girdwood Brewing when we expanded our tap room.”
Installation Expertise
The team at Door Systems of Alaska was involved in the garage door replacement. “This is a creative use for a garage door,” says Jason Slater, with Door Systems of Alaska. “I believe the area where the expansion took place used to be a storage area for the landlord, a commercial fisherman.
“When the brewery was able to acquire the space, they installed a concrete counter below the new garage door. This allows for expanding indoor/outdoor operations and taking advantage of great weather by opening the durable garage door!”
