SelectView Lets Homeowner Add Light Exactly Where Needed
That’s how Craig Hamby felt when he replaced two solid garage doors with new Haas Door Insulated Steel 600 Series garage doors. The new homeowner chose a window configuration through SelectView that allows natural light to flow into his two-car garage.
“The garage was so dark and dreary when I purchased the home,” says Hamby, an Illinois resident. “Plus the garage doors were older and let a lot of air in. Honestly, those garage doors were one of the first things I decided to replace when I moved in last December.”
Designing Garage Doors
For Hamby, it was important to get the most amount of light passing into the garage throughout the day. Yet, he still wanted to “stay true” to the Tudor style of his new home’s exterior.
Working with the team at Zumwalt Corporation out of St. Louis, Hamby custom designed and selected the Carriage House Series window configuration. The ½-inch thick clear glass windows run down the full length of his new flush garage door.
“I’ve used Zumwalt on many of my previous homes and I’ve been extremely happy with them,” says Hamby. “Their service is second to none. They have very professional installers and worked efficiently to get me exactly what I was looking for in my new garage doors.”
Carbon Black Great Color Choice
Part of what Hamby was seeking was a way for the design style to harmonize with his home’s exterior.
“The garage windows add dramatic style to the house overall,” says Hamby. “I selected the Carbon Black color for the garage doors because it complements the dark-painted accent wood pieces above the garage. These doors mimic the texture and feel of the home’s architectural style.”
Garage Transformation
The 600 Series Hamby selected combines the look of deep embossed wood grain with the strength and durability of heavy gauge galvanized steel. The virtually maintenance-free door is exceptionally well-insulated and will not warp, crack or rot.
“I’m very happy with these garage doors, and especially with the amount of light that passes through the windows into the garage,” adds Hamby. “When I’m in the garage it now feels like part of my home. The amount of light entering the garage has really helped transform this area of the house.”
