Creating Stand-Out Curb Appeal With Woodgrain Garage Door
She didn’t do it on purpose. Honest. However, after Jenny Flowers broke her garage door, she took the opportunity to make lemonade out of lemons. She ordered a new Haas Door garage door that adds more curb appeal and insulation to her Cleveland area home.
Flowers and her husband Tim built their home in 1992 as a retirement investment. Now, almost 30 years later, they made another investment. This time in a garage door that adds beauty and value to their property.
“I was sick over the accident,” says Flowers. “But the end result of having an upgraded garage door takes the sting out of the situation.”
Enhancing Curb Appeal
When the inevitable decision was made to replace the garage door on her home, Flowers contacted Homenik Door Co. Inc. out of North Ridgeville, Ohio. The company installs about 1,000 Haas garage doors each year and offered Flowers a variety of design options to consider.
“We recommended that Jenny try to match the windows or entry door to her new garage door selection to enhance her curb appeal,” says Mike Johnston, president of Homenik Door Co. Inc. “We’ve been installing these products for 14 years and they hold up great in our environment.”
Insulation and Beauty
As part of the selection process, Tim Flowers used the free HaasCreate online tool to design their new garage door. After reviewing the options, the couple chose an Insulated Steel 2000 Series garage door (Model 2064) with ribbed long panels. They selected a uni-directional English Oak woodgrain with four-pane Carriage House Series windows.
“I’d never seen woodgrain garage doors before,” says Jenny Flowers. “We thought this door would be especially appealing while providing more insulation value to handle our cold winters.”
The Insulated Steel 2000 Series garage doors are among the most energy efficient garage doors on the market. The two-inch thick heavy gauge galvanized steel doors are filled with dense polyurethane foam insulation and have an air infiltration seal between the sections.
High Return on Investment
“Even though this wasn’t a planned replacement, a new garage door is a true investment in a home,” says Johnston. “According to the
2021 Cost Versus Value Study, coordinated by
Remodeling magazine, a garage door replacement project is the #1 project with the highest recoup value for homeowners across the country.
“This study reports that when consumers replace an older garage door they can recoup an average of 93.8 percent of their expenditure. These numbers confirm that adding a new garage door to an existing home is a really smart decision.”
Flowers is making another smart decision. To truly coordinate the curb appeal of their home, she’s having her front door painted to complement the English Oak woodgrain on the new garage door.
“The upgraded look of our garage door is amazing,” says Flowers. “The Homenik Door installers did a great job. The garage door color really brings out the color of our roof and changes how we look at the front of our home. Our selection both satisfies me and makes me prouder of our house.”
